What to Expect During Your Test Drive

The test drive is your chance to see if a car is really right for you. Here's how to make the most of this important step.

Before You Start

Adjust the seat, mirrors, and steering wheel. Make sure you're comfortable and have good visibility. Familiarize yourself with the controls.

What to Test

Acceleration: How does the car respond when you press the gas? Is there enough power for highway merging?

Braking: Test the brakes at various speeds. They should feel responsive and stop smoothly.

Handling: Take some turns. Does the car feel stable? Is the steering responsive?

Noise Levels: Listen for any unusual sounds. How loud is the engine? Road noise?

Test Different Conditions

If possible, drive on highways, city streets, and rough roads. Test the parking brake and practice parallel parking.

Check All Features

Test the air conditioning, heater, radio, power windows, and any other features that matter to you.

Trust Your Gut

Beyond the mechanical stuff, do you feel good in this car? Can you see yourself driving it every day?

At Holmes Motors, we encourage thorough test drives. Take your time – this is an important decision!
